New Jersey – What NFL teams needs to be in “WIN NOW” mode heading into the 2021 football season?
5. Cleveland Browns
With both starting wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry being the age of 28 turning 29 soon, along with Beckham coming off of ACL surgery, the Browns should be in a win it all now or go home mode.
Along with that, TE David Njoku heading into free agency next off season in 2022, the Browns roster is not guaranteed to look the same in 2022 as they are heading into 2021 football season.
Starting QB Baker Mayfield and starting CB Denzel Ward in need of deals soon, it will be tough for the Cleveland to keep the band in town for their entire careers.
Mayfield is expected have at least $35.3 million dollar market value.
Ward’s market value is expected to be $18.5 million and Chubb is expected to be $12.1 million
With the talented roster they due to high players on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, this team is going to be one the teams that everyone will be looking to win it all in 2021.
The Browns are projected to be $7 million over the cap space in 2022.
4. Buffalo Bills
With over two decades of futility and their best years so far in franchise history was coming up short in a record setting four Super Bowls straight, the Bills should be hungry to bring Buffalo home a Super Bowl win.
If Buffalo somehow wins it all this year, the Bills will join both the New York Giants and the New York Jets as Super Bowl organizations and become the third and last New York franchise to win the Super Bowl.
Reaching the AFC Championship last season was a milestone for Josh Allen and the crew, but not too many teams can keep that pace going for more than two season. They should be urging to seal the deal now when they have the team to do so.
The Bills are expected to have only $2,037,129 in cap space heading into the 2022 offseason.
You can expect them to miss a couple pieces from last season and this upcoming season’s roster.
3. Green Bay Packers
With QB Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay due to shortcomings, along with personal issues within the the Packers front office, the Packers should be doing everything that can to keep their franchise QB happy in Green Bay. With that being said, they did just that by signing him back to a new deal that lasts until the end of the 2022 football season.
Now that he and star wide receiver Devonta Adams are back for another season in Green Bay and the Packers on now pressured to win a Vince Lombardi trophy for the 2nd time in Rodger’s career, bringing Green Bay their 5th title win overall.
Adding former Texans wide receiver Randall Cobb to the squad and reuniting him with Rodgers is one way to keep their QB happy and committed to the team.
With the new deal with Rodgers, the Packers will now be $50 million over their salary cap in 2022.
With Adams declining new deal with the team, the Packers are one of the teams that should be in win now or win never mode due to all they are going to face come the 2022 free agency in March.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
Drafting who many say is the “best running back” in the 2021 NFL draft in Najee Harris, the Steelers are one of the top two teams that should be in win now or win never mode due to it being a strong possibility that this can be the final season for their future hall of fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Along with but their are some stars on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball that are set to become free agents in 2022. These players are star WR JuJu Smith Schuster, CB Joe Haden, DE Cameron Heyward, and WR James Washington, S Terrell Edmunds, LB TJ Watt, TE Eric Ebron, and C B.J. Finney
Regardless of this being Roethlisberger’s last season or not, the Steelers have not won a Super Bowl in nearly 15 seasons, with that being said, they should be hungry for their seventh Lombardi trophy, along with the outside noise that everyone heard, this team should be without any question in win now or win never mode.
1. Los Angeles Rams
If there’s a team that should be in win now or win never mode, it should be the Los Angeles Rams due all they have to face in 2022 free agency, along with lack of salary cap space and draft picks they have now due to all the moves they have made recently when they have accpruired star QB Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions and CB Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
These moves have cost them a combined of six first round drafts, along with two fourth round picks in the NFL drafts from the years of 2020 – 2026, which means they will not have a first round draft pick until the 2027 NFL draft.
According to Spotrac, they will be more than $13 million over the cap space, which means much more pay cuts and rosters are expected to be made during the 2022 off season.
Their division rivals in the lights of the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ners, are expected to only get better as their teams have gotten stronger in the offseason, along with having more room than the Rams to make moves in both the offseason and NFL draft for the upcoming years.
Star players like DT Aaron Donald entering his 7th season, CB Jalen Ramsey entering his 5th season, and QB Matthew Stafford entering his 13th season, the Rams should be on the rage to do anything they can win it all now or never due to being a great chance of them once again being the poverty franchise of their division, yet again!
