As Game 4 of the first round of the 2021-2022 NBA Playoffs between the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics is to take place in Brooklyn, the Nets trail the Celtics in this series 0-3 as Boston is looking to sweep the Nets and get nearly a week off for their next playoff game.
Meanwhile, the Nets on the other hand is looking to avoid this week and survive to see another game versus the Celtics.
But breaking news has occurred to the team last night as it was announced that Ben Simmons will miss game 4 of the series due to a back injury, after being expected to return this game.
The last time we all have seen Simmons on the court was June 20 when the 76ers were eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the NBA playoffs. That’s nearly a year of being out of action, so here now comes the question should the Nets consider trading him?
Simmons was traded from the 76ers to the Nets in exchange for James Harden who was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Nets earlier in the season.
As the Nets were favored to not only win the east will to win the NBA finals as well, the favoritism has took a blow with the injuries of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant throughout the season, along with the fact that Simmons has yet to return to action as the Nets are one game away from elimination.
Not only it’s just showing that Simmons can’t stay healthy but he also can’t be reliable for the team which technically makes him useless. It might be time for the Nets to start considering shopping him away.
