By the looks of it, the fight that everyone has been looking for is finally set to happen!
Undisputed light weight champion Claressa Shields aka “The GWOAT” (12-0) is set to take on rival “The Silent Assassin” Savannah Marshall for the undisputed middleweight championship in the United Kingdom on either Sept. 3rd or Sept. 10, according to BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom.
According to Shalom, both fighters have signed and agreed to the terms in order for the fight to happen.
The two have exchanged words towards one another before on social media via Twitter.
The fuel have continued to be added to the fire as Marshall approached Shields after her fight in the U.K vs. Ema Kozin on Feb. 5th, 2022 when she told Shields that “If you perform like that against me, I will absolutely wipe the floor with you.” After Shields defeated Kozin in the 10th round of their fight with an unaminous decision.
It continued when Shields arrived to New Castle watch Marshall’s last fight vs Femke Hermans on April 2 and confronted her in the ring, which led to the two exchanging words even more.
The fight was originally schedule to take place this summer in July but unfortunately was pushed back due to Marshall having to have surgery to repair her right shoulder.
Marshall, the WBO middleweight champion, gave Shields, the WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight champ, her only loss in both her professional and amateur boxing career when she defeated her in the preliminaries of the AIBA World Championships on May 14, 2012.
The two are set to fight again for the first time in a little over a decade, this time as professional fighters.
