Coming off a dominant win over the Phoenix Mercury with winning the series in a clean sweep 2-0 in a best of three series, they are for the first time under newly hired head coach WNBA legend Becky Hammon heading to semifinals to play Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm.
The Aces are looking to win what will be their first ever WNBA Finals championship as they practically have home court advantage for as long as their season lives due to being the number one seed in the western conference.
The Storm are looking to become the first ever team in WNBA history to win what will be a record of five WNBA Finals championships and to send their legendary player Sue Bird off to the sunset on top of the league.
Bird regardless of how this series between the Storms and the Aces lays will still be considered if not indefinitely one of the greatest players to ever play in the WNBA, that is something that will never be taken from her, but that is not how the Storm will come out playing this series as they are looking to get back to WNBA Finals at least one last time with her as their team leader.
According to WNBA reporter Lyndsey D’Arcangelo from the Athletic, she believes that Aces head coach Becky Hammon is “Doing what we all knew she was capable of doing when she came back to the WNBA”, which she expressed on a recent of episode of podcast “The Micbomb” when stopped in to speak on the WNBA and what was there to come this season.
