
2022 without question has been the year of current Las Vegas Aces head coach and WNBA legend Becky Hammon as she continues to climb the heights for women in the sports industry. From winning the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, to the WNBA Finals, WNBA Coach of the Year, to now becoming an NBA analyst for ESPN. Read below now to learn more about the news.
Becky Hammon who was hired back in March after not being offered a head-coaching position in the NBA made her return back to the WNBA when she was then hired as the head coach for the current defending WNBA champions the Las Vegas Aces.
Just in her first year, Hammon without question stole the eyes of sports fans everywhere with her epic run with the Aces, along with winning WNBA coach of the year.
The Aces finished their season with a record of 26-10 record, securing their first ever WNBA Finals championship in franchise history with star players WNBA Defensive Player of the Year A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, finals MVP Chelsea Gray all leading the way.
If that didn’t steal your eyes, then this announcement will. November 2, ESPN announced that Hammon will join their staff as an analyst for NBA coverage and will appear on shows such as, “Get Up, First Take, SportsCenter and NBA Today.”
When asked about the opportunity, Hammon stated “I am very excited to contribute to ESPN’s coverage of the NBA this season. It will be a lot of fun working alongside ESPN’s talented roster of broadcasters and having the opportunity to talk about the game that I love so much.” via NBA.com
Hammon and women sport fans weren’t the only ones thrilled about her joining as ESPN’s very own, ESPN Head of NBA and Studio Production David Roberts had his own excitement about the news of her joining the staff as he stated …
“Becky is a pioneer in every sense of the word and we know she’ll lend unique insights, based on her wide-ranging experience, to our NBA coverage,”
Hammon is set to make her debut on December 2nd, according to ESPNW, who were the ones to make the announcement originally.
